The IP phone (also called SIP phone, or voip phone) is a phone that allows you to make phone calls via the Internet. It looks like the traditional wired or cordless phone you have in your home or office, but unlike this one that plugs into a line jack from your phone company, the voip phone plugs into a port on your Internet box (router or modem). With the advancement in technology, there are also voip phones that connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.

The softphone also exists as an application that you can install on your mobile, to take make and receive calls.

Once connected to the router and having access to the internet, the IP telephone connects to the systems of the voip service provider and allows you to make and receive calls with your new voip telephone line.

How to choose your voip phone?

At Hivoox, we recommend choosing the IP phone, depending on your needs in terms of call quality, the number of lines needed, features and the configuration of your office. For example, if your table is far from the router, you must choose a cordless telephone, if you wish to have several lines on the same telephone, you must choose a phone which supports several lines, etc.

For certain types of business use, it is sometimes necessary to use certain features, and, in this case, it is necessary to choose a model that meets this need. For example, if you want to transfer calls, you must choose a model that allows you to manage 2 simultaneous calls, etc.

If you intend to make high-volume calls or wish to have your hands free during a call, then you need to choose a softphone. You must also ensure that the brand or model chosen is compatible with your communication system.
