Unable to Receive Incoming Calls on a Grandstream Phone: Causes and Solutions
When using a Grandstream IP phone or ATA, it is possible to encounter a situation where outgoing calls work correctly while incoming calls fail. This issue is relatively common in VoIP environments and is usually related to network configuration rather than the device itself.

- SIP signaling: UDP 5060 (or the custom SIP port defined on the device)
- RTP audio streams: UDP port range commonly between 10000 and 20000
If these ports are blocked or redirected incorrectly, the device may register successfully and allow outgoing calls while preventing incoming call delivery.
NAT behavior and SIP traversal
Network Address Translation plays a critical role in VoIP call handling. Certain NAT types can interfere with inbound SIP traffic, even when outbound communication works as expected.
On networks using restrictive NAT types such as symmetric or port-restricted NAT, incoming calls may never reach the phone. In such cases, enabling NAT traversal options on the Grandstream device can help maintain a stable SIP connection.
